Services for Doc Edward Elliott, Jr., 83, of Marietta, were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 29, at the Eastside Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Harris officiating. The eulogy was given by Karen Elliott.
Mr. Elliott was born March 11, 1920, at Willis, the son of Doc McHenry Elliott, Sr. and Annie Jane Hilton Elliott. He died Monday, October 27, 2003, in Wilson N. Jones Medical Center, Sherman, Texas.
Mr. Elliott had been a resident of Marietta for more than 60 years, moving here in 1942 from Willis. He and Mardema Opal Pelham were married April 26, 1941, at Willis. Mr. Elliott had worked as an employee of the City of Marietta for the past 29 years. He enjoyed working with his chickens, as well as various animals and going to flea markets and trading items.
Survivors include his wife, Mardema Elliott of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Judy Elliott and Corky Elliott, all of Marietta, and Rickey and Karen Elliott of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Teresa Colston of Marietta; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and five sisters.
Pallbearers were Terry Vernon, Olen Vernon, Leonard Stevenson, James Bearden, Ronnie Hilton and Frank McKelvy. Honorary pallbearers were Sue Diggs, Bobby Reed, Sr., Bobbie Vernon, Payton Palmer and Monty Caldwell.
Interment was in the Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
