Services for C. B. Evans were at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in Marietta’s First Baptist Church with the pastor, Rev. Tommy Higle, officiating.
Born June 9, 1919, in Nugent, Texas, Mr. Evans died March 1, 1993, in the Love County Health Center, Marietta, at the age of 73.
A resident of Marietta since 1961, he retired after 27 years as a motel owner and currently owned Evans Mobile Home Park. He married Virginia Goodman December 11, 1941, in St. Charles, Missouri. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of the American Legion and of Marietta’s First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Virginia Evans of the home in Marietta; two sons, Meredith Ray Evans of Keller, Texas, and Monty Jay Evans of Virginia Beach, Virginia; a daughter, Kay Dunnavent of Marietta; a brother, Boyce Evans of Lubbock, Texas; and seven grandchildren.
Mr. Evans was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of the Anderson-Kennedy Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Bud Barnes, Eldridge Colston, Glyn Hicks, Clark Tipton, James Moffett, and Caesar Lang. Honorary pallbearers were Vonder Burkhart, Rudolph McGehee, Tup Robertson, Jack Higgins, Dick Cochran, Ralph Sparks, Paul McGill, and Wayne Jacobs.
The family has requested that donations be made to the Love County Cancer Fund, c/o Anderson-Kennedy Funeral Home, 100 East Main, Marietta.
