Services for Melvin Elves Douglas were conducted from the Bethel-Union Baptist Church, Ran, at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Officiating ministers were Rev. J.J. Ruff and Rev. C.B. McCarroll.
Born June 29, 1911, at Gainesville, Texas, to Georgia Ann Douglas, Mr. Douglas died July 31, 1992, in an Ardmore hospital. He was 81 years old.
A retired farmer, Mr. Douglas had lived in Love County since 1920. He married Dorothy Pearson June 6, 1957, in Gainesville.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Douglas of the home; three sons, Melvin Douglas of the home, Willie Ed Douglas of Marietta, and Clinton D. Manuel of Fort Worth, Texas; three daughters, Marvia Nett Douglas and Sheila Douglas of the home, and Eula L. Green of Fort Worth; 10 grandchildren adn one great-granddaughter.
Services were under the direction of the Anderson-Kennedy Funeral Home with interment in the Ran Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Willie James McCarroll, Joe Hornbeak, Ceasar Rambo, Nelson Rambo, Charles Rambo, and Bo Dailey.
