Graveside services for A.W. "Dutch" Diemer, 91, of Lone Grove, were held at 2 p.m., Monday, February 19, at Mount Zion Cemetery, Thackerville, with the Rev. Dwight Hawkins officiating.
Mr. Diemer was born December 25, 1909, at Isabella, the son of Elijah Homer and
Anna Elizabeth Westrich Diemer. He died Saturday, February 17, 2001, at the
Ardmore Memorial Convalescent Home.
Mr. Diemer had been a resident of the Lone Grove area for the past 41 years.
He was a farmer and also did carpentry work.
He and Florence Etta Smith were married September 2, 1939, at Bomar, (Love
County, OK)and she preceded him in death on November 30, 1982. He was a
musician who played the banjo, fiddle and guitar. Mr. Diemer also enjoyed
fishing and hunting. He was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include two sons, Lester Diemer of Lone Grove and Holmes McCurtain of
Wilson; four daughters, Laverne Johnson, Rosetta Dobbs, Lois Shavers and Nina
Love, all of Lone Grove; one sister, Mae Wilson of Newalla; 17 grandchildren
and 36 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Diemer was also preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two
sisters.
Pallbearers were his grandsons.
Services were under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home.
