Graveside services for Adren D. Dees, 89, of the Shady Dale community, were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 27, in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, with the Rev. John Sconce officiating.

Mr. Dees was born October 11, 1912, at Wolfe City, Texas, the son of James Robert and Lucy E. Gregory Dees. He died Monday, June 24, 2002, in Mercy Health-Love County Hospital, Marietta.

Mr. Dees came to Oklahoma in 1929 and settled in the Shady Dale community. He and Elsie Lucille Chitwood were married in Ardmore on May 18, 1938, and she preceded him in death on October 31, 1998. Mr. Dees was a farmer and carpenter until his retirement. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Maxine Dees of Marietta and Don and Linda Dees of Shady Dale; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Larry Hull of Shady Dale; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; a niece and a nephew.

Mr. Dees was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, R.F. Dees; and a sister, Eva Jo Mills.

Serving as pallbearers were his grandchildren, Brian Dees, Dan Dees, Marcus Dees, Sharan Knight, Sherri Diesel, Toi Bone and Lorry Hull. Honorary pallbearers were Fred McKay, Travis Givens, Johnny Hood, Janie Whisennand, Sylvan Freeman, Bunch Burkhart, Wilton Allen, Frank McKay and Dr. Tom O'Connor.

Services were under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
