Services for Wilma K. Clifton, 69, were Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in the Eastside Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Emmons, pastor, officiating.

Born April 17, 1923, in Fort Worth, Texas, the daughter of Charlie and Lillie Brundige Newsome, Mrs. Clifton died November 16, 1992, in the Love County Health Center, Marietta.

A resident of Marietta since 1960, she married Paul Clifton August 17, 1943, in Memphis, Texas. Mrs. Clifton was a retired employee of Marietta Bakery. She was a member of the Shady Dale Baptist Church and had recently attended the Eastside Baptist Church in Marietta.

Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Lillie Woodard of Marietta; her husband, Paul Clifton of the home in Marietta; two sons, Larry Clifton of Rogers, Arkansas, and Jerry Clifton of Marietta; two brothers, John Newsome of Thackerville and Roger Newsome of Phoenix, Arizona; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Clifton was preceded in death by her father, Charlie Newsome; a brother, Charles; and a sister, Ruth.

Interment in Lakeview Cemetery was under the direction of the Anderson-Kennedy Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers were Ronnie Bennett, Tony Tiger, Harry Kerr, Randy Reeves, Charles Earl Newsome, and Jimmy Hughes.
