Services for Thelma Colston, 100, of Marietta, were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 27, in the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel, Marietta, with Allen Woody officiating.
Mrs. Colston was born January 4, 1904, in Marietta, Indian Territory, the daughter of John and Mahala Goodwin Jacobs. She died Sunday, July 25, 2004, in the Lake Country Nursing Center, Marietta.
She had been a resident of Love County all of her life. She and Dabney Lee Colston were married June 4, 1922, in the Shady Dale community, and he preceded her in death on April 15, 1966. Mrs. Colston attended school at Shady Dale. A homemaker, she took great pride in her children and all of her grandchildren. Mrs. Colston was a Gold Star Mother, having lost a son, Billie Edwin Colston, in September 1944 while serving in the Philippines with the U.S. Navy in World War II. Her hobbies included crocheting, quilting and embroidery. Following her 100th birthday party in January, she was recognized as an Oklahoma Centenarian. Mrs. Colston was a member of the Marietta Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Joe Colston of Marietta and Bob Colston of Ardmore; a daughter and son-in-law, LaNell and Bob Michael of Marietta; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Colston was also preceded in death by a grandson, Sam Michael on November 25, 1991; two sisters, Jewel Flanagan and Nadine Colley; and six brothers, Hubert Jacobs, Ray Jacobs, Harold Jacobs, Glen Jacobs, Elmer Lee Jacobs and Wayne Jacobs.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Colston, Randall Colston, Billy Wayne Colston, Derek Wallace, Charles White and Buddy Hatcher.
Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home.
