Services for Oleata Vaughn Culwell, 69, of Willis, were held at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, June 30, at the Willis Baptist Church, with Gary Dempsey, Doug Vaughn and Brad Culwell officiating. Rhonda Culwell arranged the music.
Mrs. Culwell was born July 31, 1931, in Love County, the daughter of Wallace and Ewilda Patton Phillips Vaughn. She died Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at her home.
Mrs. Culwell was raised in the Loves Valley area, where she attended school. She moved around in the oil field with her family and lived in Perryton, Texas for 23 years before moving to Willis in 1984 where she lived the rest of her life. She and Charlie C.R. "Bob" Culwell were married August 17, 1948, at Gainesville, Texas, and he preceded her in death in October of 1999. Mrs. Culwell worked for 10 years as a cashier at Dave's Superette in Willis and was a member of the Willis Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Jr. and Rhonda Culwell of Perryton, Texas, and Brad and Genia Culwell of Mannsville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Peggy and Richard Johnson of Kingston and Patty Gregory of Ardmore; two brothers, Don Vaughn of Ames and Jerry Vaughn of Buffalo Valley; a half-brother, Larry Vaughn of Marietta; a sister, Winnie McKibban of Healdton; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Culwell was also preced in death by her parents.
Serving as pallbearers were Colby Culwell, Pyne Gregory, Gary John Johnson, Ryan Culwell, Bryce Culwell and Dusty Culwell.
Interment was in Burneyville Cemetery, under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill.
