Graveside services for Melvin Clark, 83, of Marietta, were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, November 20, at the Lebanon Cemetery, with the Rev. John Sconce officiating.
Mr. Clark was born August 7, 1918, in Enville, the son of John Walter and Bular Mae Gilbert Clark. He died Saturday, November 17, 2001, at his residence.
Mr. Clark had been a resident of Love County all of his life. He was a laborer, working in construction and as a farmer. Mr. Clark served in the U.S. Army during both World War II and the Korean Conflict and was awarded the EAME Campaign Medal with five Bronze Stars, three Overseas Service Bars, the Good Conduct Medal and the Korean Service Medal with five Bronze Stars. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include four brothers, Rusty Clark of Whitesboro, Texas, Charles Clark and Wayne Clark of Thackerville, and Carl Clark of Gainesville, Texas; and five sisters, Mina Adams of Enville, Ruth Calvert and Viola Sconce of Thackerville, Ivarine Walker of Montgomery, Alabama, and Judy Shell of Gainesville.
Mr. Clark was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Raymond Clark and Jack Clark; two sisters, Betty Swann and Iola Harp; and a half-sister, Pearl Burchfield.
Services were under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
