Services for James Marie Mayes Curry, 65 year old Woodward resident, were March 19, 1996, in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James C. Steenbergen officiating.
Born December 1, 1930, in Marietta, Mrs. Curry died March 17, 1996, in the Woodward Hospital and Health Center. She was the daughter of James Dewitt (Jack) and Sythia May (Blackmon) Mayes.
Mrs. Curry attended school at Greenville, graduating from High School in 1949. On October 11, 1950, she married Carl Robert Curry in Gainesville, Texas, and the couple made their home in Pauls Valley before moving to Cushing in 1954. The family then moved to Woodward in 1957.
Survivors include a son, Robert Curry of Woodward; a daughter and son-in-law, Jo Ruth and Bruce James Green of Hoisington, Kansas; two grandsons, Brandon and Joshua Green; two brothers, Billy Jack Mayes of Ardmore and John Mayes of Marietta; and four sisters, Alyne Kirk and Linda Kerr of Marietta, Joyce Allgood of Ardmore and Margaret Hammer of Austin, Texas.
Mrs. Curry was preceded in death by her husband on September 18, 1982; her father on August 17, 1992; and her mother on December 21, 1995.
Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers were Bill Dike, Tom Rogers, Larry Foster, Roger Coyer, J.D. Mathews and Ronny Pratt.
