Services for Daniel D. Chitwood, 81, were Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Williams and Rev. Jim Whitley officiating.
Mr. Chitwood was born July 24, 1914, at Rubottom, the son of Daniel N. and Josie Anna Gatlin Chitwood, and died April 29, 1996.
A resident of the Rubottom Community most of his life, Mr. Chitwood was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army. He married Irene Loving November 7, 1946, at Gainesville, Texas. Mr. Chitwood was a member of the Rubottom Baptist Church and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Irene Chitwood of the home at Rubottom; two sons and daughters-in-law, Odis and Sharon Chitwood of Fort Worth, Texas, and Scott and Stephanie Chitwood of Marietta; two daughters and sons-in-law, Suzanne and Ronald Reed of Choctaw, and Beth and Wayland Brown of Marietta; five sisters, Gertrude Watkins of Ringling, Rena Powel of Fort Worth, Elsie Dees of Marietta, Dorothy Barrick of Oklahoma City and Alta Faye Jobe of Burneyville; eight grandchildren, Kim Anderson, Shane Reed, Kari Brown, Lacy Brown, Misty Chitwood, Sharolyn Chitwood, Dannette Chitwood and Steven Chitwood; and two great-grandchildren, Stephen Anderson and Lauren Anderson.
Mr. Chitwood was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Velma Langley and Susie Bilderback.
Services were directed by Kennedy Funeral Home with interment in the Leon Cemetery. Nephews served as pallbearers.
