Services for Samuel Meade Bailey, Jr. were Friday at 4:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Thackerville with Dr. Bob Hildebrandt and Bro. Rick Waldroupe officiating.
Mr. Bailey was born January 27, 1929, in Enid, the son of Samuel Meade and Marie Foster Bailey, and died September 29, 1993, in Presbyterian Hospital, Oklahoma City, at the age of 64.
A resident of Thackerville since August 1992, Mr. Bailey was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the Navy, and a retired oilfield worker. He graduated from Phillips University in Enid in 1977 with a degree in Physics. Mr. Bailey married Gwen Bates March 8, 1979, in Moore. He was a member of the Full Gospel Businessmens Association in Enid and attended church at Victory Chapel in Thackerville.
He is survived by his wife, Gwen Bailey of the home; his mother, Marie Bailey of Raymore, Missouri; three step-sons, William Paul Martin of Beaver Creek, Ohio, and Charles Martin and Richard Hawes of the home; and a sister, Dorothy Hoover of La Cygne, Kansas.
Interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Thackerville, under the direction of the Anderson-Kennedy Funeral Home.
