Services for Nora Lee Black, 78, of Marietta, were held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 18, in the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel, Marietta, with the Rev. Ronnie Harris officiating.
Mrs. Black was born March 17, 1923, at Simon, the daughter of Albert and Nora Cavins Loving. She died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at her residence.
She was reared in Love County, graduated from Orr High School in 1941, and later moved to Wichita Falls, Texas, where she worked as a ward attendant in the State Hospital. Mrs. Black returned to Love County following her retirement. She and John Wesley Black, Jr. were married February 17, 1946, at Gainesville, Texas, and he preceded her in death on January 13, 1994. A homemaker, Mrs. Black was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two sons, Rodney Black of Dallas, and Darrell Black of Austin, Texas; three sisters, Mary Morgan of Simon, Viola Williams of Orland, California, and Irene Chitwood of Rubottom; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Black was also preceded in death by two brothers, Pete Loving and Olen Loving.
Pallbearers were Odis Hearell, Toney Hearell, Odis Daniel Chitwood, Scott Chitwood, Lawrence Black and Finley Morgan. Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
