Services for Meda Mae Bonner, 102, of Marietta, were held at 11 a.m., Monday, November 26, in the First Baptist Church in Marietta, with the Rev. Tommy Higle officiating.
Mrs. Bonner was born December 25, 1898, the daughter of Lemuel Kirby and Emma Bond Lockhart. She died Friday, November 23, 2001, at Lake Country Manor Nursing Home in Marietta.
One of 11 children, Mrs. Bonner lived in Story, Arkansas, with her family. She and Virgil J. Bonner were married June 17, 1915, and he preceded her in death April 15, 1974, after almost 59 years of marriage. The Bonners moved to Marietta in 1940. Mrs. Bonner was a homemaker and a member of Marietta' s First Baptist Church and the Garden Club.
Survivors include a granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Margaret Anne and Robert Ayres of Austin, Texas; two great-granddaughters, Kathleen Ayres and Elizabeth Ayres of Austin; and several neices and nephews.
Mrs. Bonner was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Norman Lockhart Bonner on October 16, 1957; six brothers and four sisters.
Pallbearers were Bob Ayres, Phil Willey, Herman Roberson, Lewis Foster, Wade Moore and Bud Barnes. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Tom O'Connor and the nurses and staff of Lake Country Manor Nursing Home.
Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery in Marietta, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
Memorial contributions may be made to Marietta's First Baptist Church c/o Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home.

Mrs. Meda Bonner was born on Christmas Day in 1898 in Arkansas. Her parents were farmers.
Mrs. Bonner and her husband, Virgil, both graduated from school in Arkansas. He became a teacher and the couple traveled around a lot until they had a son. The Bonners then moved to Love County where he served as County Superintendent of Schools. Mrs. Bonner said she was a "house maid."
