Moses Blair, 93, of Marietta, a roofer and contract worker, died Thursday, July 21, 2005. Services were held Tuesday, July 26, in the Nazarene Baptist Church, Burneyville, with Clentis McCarroll and Eugene Bellard officiating. Interment was in the Dunbar Cemetery. (Kirk)

BURNEYVILLE-- Services for Moses Blair, 93, Marietta, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Nazarene Baptist Church with Clentis McCarroll and Eugene Bellard officiating. Interment will follow at Dunbar Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirk Funeral Home.

Born April 12, 1912 at Brenham, Texas to Gude Blair and Julia Ann Brooks, he died July 21, 2005 at a Love County hospital. He married Augusta Shaw Jan. 5, 1935 at Burneyville. She preceded him in death Jan. 1, 1996. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Andrew, Warren, Gude, Eddie and Nit Blair, and sisters, Georgia Porter and Elizabeth Girtmon.

A longtime resident of Love County, he owned and operated the Sunset Grill Cafe, Moses Blair's Roofing Co. and contracted work hauling sand and gravel.

Survivors include sons, Mozell Blair, Wichita, Kan., and Herbert Blair, Oklahoma City; daughter, Roberta Peterson, Dallas; 27 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bearers are Simeon Blair, Paul Blair, Mozell Blair Jr., Gary Halstied, Paul Joiner and Milton "Bo" Dailey. Honorary bearers are Harry Mathis, Herculee McCarroll, Elwood Maxwell, Melroy Gaines, Ray Douglas and Nathaniel Peterson.

Visitation will be 1-6 p.m. Monday.
