Memorial services for LaVerda Jean Bloomer, 66, of Marietta, were held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, November 10, at the First United Methodist Church, Marietta, with the Rev. Tim Emmons officiating, assisted by the Rev. Tony Caro.
Ms. Bloomer was born February 3, 1938, at Courtney, the daughter of James Ralph and Essie Cleo Martin Bloomer. She died Sunday, November 7, 2004, in Mercy Health Center, Oklahoma City.
A resident of Love County all of her life, Ms. Bloomer was a beautician and also had a catering business. She graduated from Meadowbrook High School and also the Ardmore Beauty College. Well-known for her cooking skills, she often shared her talents with others. Ms. Bloomer was a member of Marietta's First Baptist Church and attended the Good News Sunday School Class at the First United Methodist Church in Marietta.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Linda Bloomer of Seminole; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Joy and Ron Farve of Ardmore and Gloria and Jack Stephens of San Antonio, Texas; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Ms. Bloomer was preceded in death by her parents; and a nephew, Mark Hodges.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Good News Sunday School Class at the First United Methodist Church.
Services were under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, in care of the funeral home.
