Services for Jack Cloyce Brannan, 75, will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the Marietta Church of Christ. Officiating will be Bro. Floyd Johnson, minister of the Marietta Church of Christ, and Rev. Roland Luelf, minister of the First United Methodist Church.
Mr. Brannan was born September 22, 1920, at Vernon, Texas, the son of Thomas Alexander and Anna Ford Brannan, and died May 1, 1996, in the Ardmore Veterans Center.
A resident of Love County most of his life, he graduated from Marietta High School in 1939 and attended Oklahoma A&M where he was a member of the Kappa Sig Fraternity. Mr. Brannan enlisted in the Army Air Corps on January 10, 1942. He was a member of the 814th Aviation Engineers with whome he served in Africa, Sicily, Rome, Naples and Foggie during World War II. Mr. Brannan was discharged on October 15, 1945, and returned to Love County where he began ranching. He was the Past Post Commander and County Commander of the American Legion Burch Bros. Post 136, Past President of the Marietta Lions Club and served as a member of the Selective Service Board. Mr. Brannon married Margaret Elizabeth Thomas August 18, 1950, at Dallas, Texas. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Among his survivors are his wife, Mrs. Margaret Brannan of the home near Marietta; a son, Jack Thomas Brannan of the home; and a daughter, Dawn Story of Mineola, Texas.
Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery with services directed by the Kennedy Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Brannan, Bud Dixon, Larry Martin, Rick Brannan, Wayne Bond and Bill McGehee. Honorary bearers will be Eldridge Colston, Jim Locke, Fred Robertson, Reford Tims, George Harkey, Bill Looney and Elmer Stroman.
Family will receive friends Friday from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
