Services for Ira Cliff Bradley, 83, of Marietta were Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Eastside Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy May and Rev. Steve Gardner officiating.
Born June 10, 1916, at Emboden, Arkansas, Mr. Bradley died November 23, 1999, in Mercy Health Love County, Marietta. He was the son of Oliver and Nina Brumely Bradley.
Mr. Bradley moved to Love County in 1969 after living in California since 1939. He married Maxine McDaniel on May 22, 1945, in Marietta. Mr. Bradley served in the Merchant Marines during World War II and owned and operated Bradley Grocery at Courtney until 1975. He retired as Chief of Security at Falconhead in 1981. Mr. Bradley also served on the Love County Hospital Board in the mid-1980's.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Maxine Bradley of the home in Marietta; a son and daughter-in-law, Vernon and Jan Bradley of Houston, Texas; two brothers, Walt Bradley of Mexico Beach, Florida, and Ollie Bradley of Sacramento, California; four sisters, Lucille Greenwood of East Prairie, Missouri, Nadine Barnes of Lodi, California, Jeslyn Williams of Fremont, California, and Eula Stanton of El Dorado, California; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mr. Bradley was preceded in death by a son, Jim May in 1982; two brothers, Melvin Bradley and Claudie Bradley; and a sister, Verna Richie.
Interment was in the Rubottom Cemetery directed by Kennedy Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Randy May, Danny May, Jerry Hawkins, Dwight Hawkins, Thurman Vinson and Harold White. Honorary bearers were Richard Harris and the Senior Adult Men's Sunday School Class of Eastside Baptist Church.
