Services for Charles Edward Blodgett, 54, of Wilson, were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 27, at the First Baptist Church in Wilson, with the Rev. Jason Langley, the Rev. Mike Johnson and the Rev. J.B. Lovelace officiating.
Mr. Blodgett was born January 9, 1947, in Post Oak, the son of John Lester and
Beatrice Whisenhunt Blodgett. He died Saturday, August 25, 2001, after an 11-
month battle with brain cancer.
A lifelong Wilson resident, Mr. Blodgett was an active member of the First
Baptist Church. He and Linda Darlene Palmer were married December 31, 1966, at
Leon. He had owned and operated a backhoe business since 1973 and worked for
Duke Energy at Countyline.
Survivors include his wife, Linda of the home; a son, Charles Don Blodgett; a
daughter and son-in-law, Charlett and Steve Clayton; two honorary sons, Jason
Langley and Craig Perkins; four grandchildren, Clinton Coy, Jessica Rene,
Stephanie Nicole and Charles Don Jr.; his parents, Beatrice and John Blodgett;
two brothers, Jim and Minnie Blodgett and Jack and Ronda Blodgett; three
sisters, Margie and Donald Shepard, Linda Sanders and Jeff Duncan, Anna
Blodgett and Lynn Bolles; a brother-in-law, Dale and Roberta Palmer; sisters-
in-law, Savanna and Montie Slawson and Sheila Rodriquez; a father-and mother-
in-law, Imogene Palmer and Peyton and Shirley Palmer; 31 nieces and nephews,
Jody, Courtney, Misty, Jerry, Jaime, Alysia, Asia, J.J., Cloy, Alexis,
Shaundalyn, Clinton, Randy, Levi, Niki, Dani, Tosha, Logan, Shawn, Mont, Lynn,
Kim, Trace, Brett, Russell, Kylie, Lisa, Steven, Charity, Shane and Jenni; and
aunts and uncles.
Mr. Blodgett was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Dewayne (Peabody)
Palmer on January 6, 1986.
Pallbearers were Merl Bone, Clem Higgs, Paul Wroten, Don Thomas, Russell Dark,
Lynn Henderson, Don Smith; Doug Mitchel, Pete Carlile and Ray French. Honorary
pallbearers were Stan Harris, Jeff Singleton, Anna Mae Harris, Roy Tynes, the
men's Sunday School Class and all Duke Energy employees.
Interment was in Leon Cemetery, under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home,
Wilson.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Cross Timbers
Hospice c/o Alexander Funeral Home, 112 N. Rotary, Wilson, OK 73463.
