Services for Cleo B. Baxley were Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the Courtney United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Adkisson officiating.
Born May 22, 1919, at Belleville, Mrs. Baxley died February 26, 1997, in the Love County Health Center, Marietta, at the age of 77. She was the daughter of Nathan and Eula Thomas Banks.
A resident of Courtney all of her life, she married Clifford T. Baxley November 23, 1938, at Belleville. Mrs. Baxley was a member of the Courtney United Methodist Church and the Home Demonstration Club. She was also the past president of the Love County Council, past president of the Belleville Cemetery Association and cemetery organizer.
Survivors include her husband, Clifford T. Baxley of the home at Courtney; a son and daughter-in-law, Malcolm and Mary Lou Baxley of Courtney; a daughter and son-in-law, Gaye and Glen Dewbre of Courtney; a sister; and a grandson, John Clifford Dewbre.
Mrs. Baxley was preceded in death by two infant brothers.
Interment in the Bourland-Belleville Cemetery, Courtney, was under the direction of the Kennedy Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers were Dr. Tom O'Connor, Steve Smith, Jr., Gene Jackson, Tankie Spivey, L.J. Chapman and James Glenn.
