Services for Bud Barber, 71, of Marietta, were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 23, in the Eastside Baptist Church, Marietta, with the Rev. Ronnie Harris officiating and the Rev. Stanley Pope assisting. Interment was in the Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta. Arrangements were directed by Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.

Born June 19, 1934, at Muleshoe, Texas, the son of John Whitten and Dora Bell Hall Barber, he died Saturday, August 20, 2005, at Mercy Memorial Health Center, Ardmore.

A resident of Marietta since 1995, Mr. Barber had been employed as a caretaker of the funeral home in Marietta since January 1997. He and Mary Stonecipher were married December 19, 1965, at Muleshoe, Texas. Mr. Barber served in the U.S. Army from May 1, 1958 to April 29, 1960. He was manager of Blackwater Fertilizer in Muleshoe for 12 years and then was manager of the Red River Farmers Coop in Hugo for 15 yeras before moving to Marietta. Mr. Barber loved his family and worked hard to provide for them. He was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church in Marietta.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Barber of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Jack Wesley and Tammye Barber of Pampa, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca Lynn and William Netzinger of Spring, Texas; a brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Donnita Barber of Monahans, Texas; a sister, Polly Chisum of Clovis, New Mexico; and three grandchildren, Tacye Barber, Jackye Barber and John Michael Netzinger.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers were Jack Barber, William Netzinger, Ronnie Barber, James Stonecipher, Justin Stonecipher and Daren Flanagan. Honorary pallbearers were Johnny Stonecipher, Bryant Watts, M.B. Watts, Brad Watts, John Kennedy, David Kerr, Wayne Bond, Bob Hathaway, Terry Vernon, Jimmy White, Derrie Minyard, James Donaghe, Monroe Thompson, Dr. J.T. O'Connor, Ron Dobbs and members of the Men's Sunday School Class of Eastside Baptist Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Eastside Baptist Church Building Fund in care of the funeral home.
