Services for Velma June Young, 79, of Marietta were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 3 in the Chapel of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home with Reverend Clentis McCarroll officiating and Reverend Eugene Ballard assisting. Interment followed in the Prairieview Cemetery, Marietta.
 
Born January 22, 1942 at Cement, the daughter of Wade H. and Emma R. Todd Jones, she died Friday, January 29, 2021 at Lake Country Nursing Center, Marietta.
 
Velma spent most of her life in Love County. She met her significant other, James Clinton Albert in Marietta. Velma worked as a certified medical assistant for several years. She was a member of the Bethel Union Church in Marietta. Velma was a collector of elephant keepsakes and she enjoyed cooking. She was known as a kindhearted woman who was always smiling, and she never met a stranger. Visiting with family and friends brought her joy. Although she had many interests, the most important thing in her life was the time she would spend with her children and grandchildren.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, William A. Young, Jr; and two grandsons, Charlie Clark, III and Thomas C. McGee, III.
 
Survivors include her significant other, James C. Albert of Marietta; sons, Wade H. Young and wife Tammy of Marietta and Charlie Clark, Jr. and wife Naomi Albert of Ardmore; daughters, Rhonda F. McGee and husband James of Ardmore, Vivian P. Young and husband Chester Roberts of Ardmore, Hope Young of Marietta, and Charlesaunna Williamson and husband Joseph of Ardmore; special friends, Tammy Vaughn, Maria Lopez, and Marcia Caldwell; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins.

Serving as casket bearers were Wendell J. Williamson, Lee Wright, Larry Young, Gary Young, James Burleson, and Chester Roberts. Honorary bearers were grandsons, great-grandsons, James Albert, David Hornbeak, and Joe Guerro.
