Services for Larry Gene “Ironhead” Wilson, 75, of Overbrook, OK, will be held Thursday, June 6, 2019, at 2:00 P.M. at the Eastman Baptist Church, in the Eastman Community, Love County, OK, with Pastor Brandon Twyford officiating.

Interment in the Oswalt Cemetery, Oswalt Community, Love County OK, will follow under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Marietta, OK.

The son of Edgar “Ironhead” Wilson and Olivee Williams Wilson, Larry was born February 27, 1944, in the Oswalt Community. He passed away Sunday, June 2, 2019, at his residence. Larry attended school in Meadowbrook, elementary through junior high, and graduated with the class of 1962 from Turner High School. He and the former Ellen Vance were married May 12, 1962 in Ardmore, OK. Larry was a team roper in the rodeo circuit. Along with many other rodeo awards, buckles and saddles, he won the East Texas Rodeo Association Finals in 1980. He was a farmer and rancher who loved checking cows spending time with his children, grand-children, great-grandchildren and good friends. Larry was a member of the Eastman Baptist Church.


Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Lavelle Johnson.
 

Survivors include his wife, Ellen, of the home; a son, Brian Wilson and wife Shannon of Overbrook; two daughters, Teresa Conway and husband Mike of Overbrook and Connie Bacon and husband Keith of Coleman, OK; three sisters, Barbara Lang of Overbrook, Kay Thompson and husband Tom of Marietta and LouAnn Wilson of Marietta; four grandchildren, Justin Conway and wife Chelsea of Norman, OK, Olivia Carrell and husband Will of Ardmore, Cody Wilson of Durant and Seth Wilson of Durant; and three great-grandchildren, Blane Carrell, Luke Conway and Ella Carrell.


Serving as casket bearers are Chance Tynes, Pat Hockersmith, J.P. Hockersmith, Sonny Mobley, Darrin Miller and C.W. Hallum. Honorary bearers are Harold White, Kevin Pierce, Jack Hartman, Kent Shankles and Jimmy G. Tynes.


Time of visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
