The celebration of the life of Louis Henderson, who passed away at his residence in Ardmore, was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, February 24, at the Eastman Baptist Church with burial following at the Oswalt Cemetery. Officiating the celebration were Bro. Jim Duck and the Rev. Bob Cox.

Mr. Henderson was born December 8, 1932, at Davidson, the son of W.A. and Leta Powell Henderson, and went to meet his Lord at 1:20 p.m., Saturday, February 21, 2004. He and Jacqueline “Jackie” Gray were married August 5, 1953, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. In their 50 years of marriage, they welcomed into their home 11 friends and siblings. Mr. Henderson never asked for anything in return for all of the kind deeds he had done. He was not only a Papa to his three natural grandchildren but also to numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, great–nieces, great-nephews, and a special friend, Tori Embry.

Serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, Mr. Henderson held the rank of Sergeant. Following his discharge from the Army, he was a rancher and also worked in the oil and gas industry as a tool pusher for Kaiser & Frances Drilling. A member of the Eastman Baptist Church, Mr. Henderson loved attending church, and going fishing, especially with Paul, Cris and Uncle Buddy. We know that when he got to the heavenly gates he was met by many loved ones, friends and family alike. Mr. Henderson also enjoyed hunting and being able to camp at Lake Murray with the Cox Clan. His greatest joy was watching Cris rope and ride and Aly play basketball. He left this world knowing that he has two grandchildren in college and one already accepted. This pleased Papa because he wanted to see them accomplish their dreams.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Jacqueline “Jackie” Gray Henderson of the home in Ardmore; a son, Louis Paul Henderson of Fort Stockton, Texas; a daughter, Cheryl Denise Angel of Marietta; three grandchildren, Cristopher Louis Henderson of Fort Stockton, Alyson Angel of Marietta and Steffanie Henderson of Tomball, Texas; a brother and sister-in-law, Roy D. and Beverly Henderson of Marietta; four brothers-in-law, J.B. Gray and wife Patti of Moss Lake, Texas, Randy Gray of Marietta, Rickey Gray and friend Theresa Benefield of Marietta, and Greg Gray and wife Tammy of DeSoto, Texas; three sisters and brother-in-law, Exie Davis of Marietta, Monte King of Ardmore and Louella and Jack Vandeventer of Lone Grove; four sisters-in-law, Celestine Gray of Ardmore, Pat Knight and husband Mel of Ponca City, Loretta Stearns and husband Glen of Moore and Linda Gray of Ardmore.

Mr. Henderson was preceded in death by his parents, W.A. Henderson and Leta Henderson Pennington; two brothers, Fritz Henderson and Ivan Henderson; two sisters, Myrene Wright and Ida Mayes; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jabe and Aleta Gray; three brothers-in-law, Carrol Mack Gray, Carey Lance Gray and Charles F. “Buddy” Eastman, who was also a special friend.

Pallbearers were Casey Eastman, Stacy Knight, Trey Gray, Rodney Lang, Alan Vandeventer, Jake Mayes, Johnny Tynes and Fred Avil Wright. Honorary pallbearers were his high school basketball teammates, Harold White, Rex White, Roger Morgan and J.C. Montgomery; and also Johnny Richey, Bill Hilton, Neil Robnett, Donald Ray Hartman and Blain Ward.

Services were under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cross Timber Hospice, c/o Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, 100 East Main, Marietta, OK 73448.

We want to give a special thanks to Chance and Holly Tynes for giving daddy Chloe to keep him going the last three years of his life and giving him so much joy and sunshine. Also thanks to Holly for loving our daddy until the very last second. Not only did she care for him as a professional, but as a daughter who loved him as much as we do.

A photo of Mr. Henderson was included in this obituary.
