Graveside services for James K. Wade, 80, of Thackerville, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 13 in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Thackerville, with Rev. John Kinman and Bro. Murray McMurray officiating.
Born August 2, 1932 at Simon, the son of Johnny B. and Nelly Mae Nipp Wade, he died Saturday, March 9, 2013 in the Denton Regional Hospital, Denton, Texas.
Mr. Wade had been a resident of the Thackerville community most of his life and graduated from Thackerville High School. He and Betty J. Bond were married August 18, 1962 in Durant. Mr. Wade served with the U.S. Army from 1953-1955 during the Korean Conflict and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He was employed as a gas plant operator for Union Texas Petroleum for 25 years and for the past 15 years was Commissioner of Love County District 1. Mr. Wade enjoyed people and visiting. He was a devoted husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa. Mr. Wade was a member of the Thackerville Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Johnny B. “Jiggs” Wade on April 10, 2003.
Survivors include his wife, Betty J. Wade of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Hollie Monkres of Thackerville; daughter, Kathy Kyle, also of Thackerville; two sisters and brother-in-law, Addie Pryor of Arlington, Texas and Betty and Charles Whittington of Thackerville; six grandchildren, Clinton Kyle, Josey Kyle, Bobby and Kelly Reeves, Steven and Josee Reeves, Phillip Monkres and Jaime Monkres; and a great-granddaughter, Bridget Reeves.
Pallbearers were Clinton Kyle, Josey Kyle, Steven Reeves, Bobby Reeves, Phillip Monkres and Delane Williams. Honorary pallbearers were Jaime Monkres, Cody Hess, Cody Anderle, Calvin Calhoun and Will Sowders.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
