Erdean 'Skinny-Man' Tabler,
Sr. was born December 1, 1927, at Thackerville the son of Luther Robert
Tabler and Josephine Florence Jordan Tabler. He passed away Monday,
November 23, 2015, in Mercy Hospital Ardmore at the age of 87.
Erdean attended Thackerville Schools and at an early age
began working on the railroad, working with a team of horses. During
World War II he served in the U.S. Navy and was awarded the Victory
Medal, the Honorable Discharge Button and the Honorable Service Lapel
Button. Erdean was quite proud of being a lifetime member of VFW 1922.
After his discharge from the Navy, Erdean traveled the world working in
the oil fields. He lived many places including in Malta while working in
Libya. After his return to the States, Erdean had his own oil field
string-up business for several years. Erdean married Peggy Fultz Barnes
on March 30, 1957, in Durant, OK.
It is to be noted that now the speed limit on Addington Bend
Road has gone from 10 to 40 mph.
Preceding him in death were his parents, son, Erdean "Bug"
Tabler, Jr.; daughter, LaJan Tabler-Thompson; brother, Larry Tabler; and two
sisters, Monsella "Prue" Husband and Marketta Elliott.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy of the home; son, Jackie
Barnes of Thackerville; daughter Alashia Fox-Thompson and husband Ben of
Greenville, OK; brother, Jordan Frank Tabler of Ardmore; seven
grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Casket bearers are Shorty Whittington, Austin Hughes, Delmar
Shurbet, John Thompson, Randy Tabler, and Lonnie Cavitt.
