Services for Margaret Sprouse, 74, of Thackerville were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 5 at the Thackerville Baptist Church, with Rev. Bob Garsee officiating, assisted by Bro. Murray McMurray.

Interment followed in the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Thackerville.

Born October 12, 1935 in Leflore, the daughter of Ode and Stella Price, she died Sunday, May 2, 2010 after a six month battle with cancer. She shared a childhood of memories with a brother and sisters, Lois Daniels (deceased), Kathleen Price (deceased), Lila Ward, Nell Peden (deceased), Jack Price (deceased), Lee Langston, and Betty Price. She attended Leflore High School in eastern Oklahoma.

Margaret moved to Love County in 1949 where she met F.D. (Bud) Sprouse. They were married on June 21, 1951

In 1961 she started sharing her renowned culinary skills and hospitality at Leeper Lake (Love County) for some of north Texas’ finest businesses, First State Bank, Bomber Bait, National Supply and Southland Paint, to mention a few. In 1989 she expanded her hospitality management expertise with employment at Coon Creek Club in east Texas until her retirement in 2005.

Margaret’s main fulfillment in life was her service to others, be it family or friends.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Bud Sprouse of Thackerville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Diana and Mike Finley of Arlington, Texas, Teresa Scarbrough of Thackerville, and Robin and Salty Rose of Lindsay, Texas; grandchildren, Marcus and Morgan Finley of Burleson, Texas, Brandon Finley of Thackerville, Jeffrey Scarbrough and Stacey of Turner, Nathan Scarbrough and Kandi of Thackerville, Shelley Scarbrough of Marietta, Natalie Rose, Nick Rose and Neely Rose of Lindsay; 12 great-grandchildren and numerous family and friends throughout southern Oklahoma and north Texas.

Preceding her in death were twin granddaughters, Rachael and Elizabeth Rose in 1990 and her son, David Sprouse in 2006.

She is survived by sons, Billy ad Carmen Sprouse of Durant and John and Teresa Sprouse of Lindsay; and daughter, Ashley and Justin Pierson of Haltom City, Texas.

Pallbearers were her grandsons, Marcus Finley, Brandon Finley, Jeffrey Scarbrough, Nick Rose, Neely Rose and John Sprouse. Honorary bearers were Nathan Scarbrough, Billy Sprouse and Grady Koonce.
