Graveside services for Carolyn Sue Smith, 73, of Norman were held at
1 p.m. Thursday, September 27 in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Thackerville
with Sister Artie Nogle officiating.
Born July 3, 1945 in Oklahoma City, the daughter of Walter Arnold
and Dora Margaret Wilson Barker, she died Sunday, September 23, 2018
in the Holiday Heights/Grace Living Center, Norman.
Carolyn and Jesse James Smith were married in
Ardmore on December 4, 1970, and he preceded her in death on August
20, 2009. She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her
parents; sister, Doris Jean Barker; two brothers, W.A. Barker, Jr.
and Steve Barker; and a granddaughter, Lindsey Roberts.
Survivors include two sons, David Thies of Oklahoma City and Kenneth
Thies of Idabel; daughter, Lorrie White and husband Robbie of
Dickson; sister, Neva Barnes and husband Ernie of Edmond;
sister-in-law, Nancy Barker of Edmond; 13 grandchildren; and
numerous great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Robert White, Ryan White, JR Thies, John
Barker, Dale Goodner, and Gene White. Honorary bearers were Cody
Thies, Kason Thies, and the staff of Faith Hospice.
