Graveside services for Velma P. Burkhart Murry, 74, of Marietta were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 7, in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Thackerville, with Reverend John Sconce officiating. 
 
Mrs. Murry was born March 30, 1942, in Love County, the daughter of Dottie M. and Todd Burkhart. She passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017, in her home surrounded by family.
 
Mrs. Murry had been a resident of Love County for the past 18 years. She was employed as Records Manager for Pier I Imports in Fort Worth, Texas, retiring in 2005. Her hobbies included camping, reading, quilting, and baking. Velma especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She and Don Murry were married in Gainesville, Texas, on May 25, 1962, and he preceded her in death on May 11, 2011.
 
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Kenneth Colston, Glester Burkhart, J.D. Burkhart, and Donnie Burkhart; and sisters, Pat Abney and Connie Burkhart.
 
She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Angie D. and Tomi Trigg of North Richland Hills, Texas, Donna L. and Jimmy McCollum of Overbrook, Sheila R. and Roy Frosch of Aledo, Texas, and Renee and Darrel Kizer of Watauga, Texas; sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and Jack Durbin of Brownstown, Illinois; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and three more on the way.

Serving as honorary bearers were Tanner Trigg, Don Kizer, Bo Kizer, Samuel Frosch, Justin McCollum, and Andersan Saakvitne.
