Wanda Jean (Tena) Koonce Lee passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 17, 2023. She was 89 years young.

Mrs. Lee was born August 3, 1934, in Thackerville to Melvin and Gladys Koonce. She graduated from Thackerville High School and married her longtime friend and love, Walter Ray Lee in October of 1953. Together they had three children, La Wanna, Neal and Eddie.

Tena was known for telling the truth, even if it was something you didn't want to hear. She was genuine to a fault and sugar-coated nothing. Most oof all, she loved her family and instilled in her children strong values that have served them well.

She loved to cook for others. Some of her most requested desserts were chocolate pie and banana pudding. A farm girl at heart, gardening was a passion. She loved to tell a good story, over and over and over.

Tena is survived by her sister, Margaret Colter; daughter La Wanna and son-in-law Steve Wheat; son Eddie Lee; grandchildren, Eric Stegall and wife Julie, Natalie Donovan and husband Nick, Ashley Toutounchi, Brandon Lee, Collin Lee, Jason Lee, Brodie Maxwell, Garrett Lee, and Dawson Lee; great-grandchildren, Hailee Stegall and Ethan Stegall; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her extended family includes Kevin and Jessica Wheat and their daughters, Avery, Emma, and Eliana, and Ryan and Andrea Wheat and their son Redding.

Tena was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Gladys; husband Walter; son Neal, and sisters Reba Buck and Shirley Jones.

She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, December 21 at Mount Zion Cemetery, Thackerville.
