Services for Ruby Jordan, 96, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at the Marietta Church of Christ with Brother Travis Huffman officiating.
Interment followed in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Thackerville.
A former resident of Marietta, Mrs. Jordan was presently making her home
in Oklahoma City. Born November 26, 1918, at Leon, the daughter of
Charlie and Dovie Thetford Whittington, she died Wednesday, April 15,
2015, at her residence.
A graduate of Thackerville High School, Mrs. Jordan was a homemaker. She
and Pete C. Jordan were married on February 4, 1939, and he preceded her
in death on November 4, 2013. Mrs. Jordan loved to sew, read her Bible,
and play 42, the guitar, harmonica and the piano. She especially enjoyed
spending time with her family and was quite proud that she was present
for the birth of all of her grandchildren. Ruby was a very faithful
member of the Marietta Church of Christ.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents;
two sons, Billy Jordan and Teel Jordan; a great-grandson, Tommy Tynes;
and three sons-in-law, Tommy Tynes, Riley Stroud, and Bobby Butler.
Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Norita and Jim
Farrell, Bernita Stroud, Jane Butler, and Brenda Kay and Rick Harris,
all of Oklahoma City; brother, Charles Whittington of Thackerville; 15
grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were James Farrell, Scott Tynes, Thomas Butler,
Brandon Harris, William Jordan, and Charlie Jordan. Honorary bearers
were Jim Farrell, Rick Harris, Duane Hicks, Jason Butler, and Tim
Bennett.
The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Tipton
Children's Home or In Search of the Lord's Way.
