Carl Mac Ellis, 77, of Thackerville, OK passed away on Monday, July
4, 2022, at the Lake Country Nursing Center in Marietta, OK. He was
born March 11, 1945, in Gainesville, TX, the son of Edgar Carl and
Laverne (McAnally) Ellis.
Carl was a lifelong area resident and graduate of Marietta High
School. He drove a semi-truck for a while before going to work and
retiring from CNI Manufacturing in the maintenance department. Carl
was a dedicated and hardworking man. He married his love Sandy Mills
on July 20, 1995 in Gainesville.
Carl was a member of the First Baptist Church of Thackerville and a
past City Council member. He rode dirt bikes and motorcycles in his
younger years and was a Dale Earnhart fan. Carl enjoyed working on
things and piddling around the yard. He was very active in his
children’s activities and coached their ball teams. Although he had
many interests, spending time with his family, especially his
grandchildren, was at the top of his list.
Carl was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Ellis; parents,
Carl and Laverne Ellis; and an infant sister, Diana Kaye Ellis.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife Sandy Ellis of the
home; sons, Carl Ellis Jr. and wife Christi of Burneyville, OK, and
Rick Ellis of Milburn, OK; stepdaughters, Karen Clark and Cody
Johnson both of Thackerville; mother of his children, Barbara Ellis
of Milburn; grandchildren, Ciera Beth Ellis, Cheyenne Desiree Ellis,
Kayla Greene, Cody Clark, Natelie Reeves, and Jaymason Reeves; and
six great-grandchildren.
Services to celebrate Carl’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m.,
Friday, July 8, 2022 at the First Baptist Church of Thackerville
with Pastor John Straughn officiating and Robby Peyrot assisting.
Interment will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Thackerville under
the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services in
Marietta. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at
the funeral home.
Casket bearers are Carl Ellis Jr., Rick Ellis, Lance Christie, Allen
Jacobs, Joseph Morton, and Bert Tickel. Honorary bearers are Cameron
Roe and Gary Link.
