Graveside services for Alfonso G. Ramon, 54, of Leon, were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 27, at the Leon Cemetery, with the Rev. Dwight Hawkins officiating.

Born April 8, 1954, in Rotan, Texas, the son of Andres Cantu and Nennie Lou Garcia Ramon, he died Friday, May 23, 2008, at his residence.

A resident of the Leon community most of his life, Mr. Ramon was a carpenter and also served in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Mr. Ramon was a member of the Leon Baptist Church.

Survivors include his mother, Nennie Lou Ramon of the home; grandmother, Vera Lou Ashton Garcia of Abilene, Texas; three brothers and sister-in-law, Alfredo Ramon of Leon, Angelo and Melinda Ramon of Bakersfield, California, and Tony Ramon of the home; eight sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosalinda “Rosie” and Antonio Sandoval of Amarillo, Texas, Vera Lou and Larry Wolfe of Leon, Nancy R. Hartman of Marietta, Guadalupe Ramon of Canyon Country, California, Debbie Jo Escobedo of Ardmore, Aurora “Laurie” and Terry Vernon and Patricia and Larry Williams, all of Marietta, and Nennie Lou and Brad Elliott of Thackerville; a half brother, Moses Ramon of Florida; a half sister, Gracie Ramon of Temple, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; father, Andres C Ramon; a brother, Andrews Ramon, Jr.; a nephew, two nieces; a great-nephew; and a great-niece.

Pallbearers were Chuck Carter, Kenneth Gilbert, Ricky Boyd, Arnie Ramon, Tony Ramon and Terry Vernon.
