Services for Wanda Louis Parker McGill, 69, of Marietta, were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 28 in Marietta’s First Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Higle officiating.
Interment was in the Leon Cemetery, Leon.
Born December 23, 1939 at Greenville, the daughter of Kinchloe and Edna Louise Fuller Peery, she died Friday, July 24, 2009 in Mercy Health Center, Oklahoma City.
A resident of Love County all of her life, Mrs. McGill was a beautician and operated Wanda’s Beauty Shop for many years. She enjoyed hunting and fishing with her husband, spending time with her family and decorating her new home. A member of Marietta’s First Baptist Church, Mrs. McGill rededicated her life to the Lord six months ago.
Following the death of her first husband, Patrick “Pat” Oscar Parker on February 13, 2002, she and Jerry McGill were married August 15, 2003.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry McGill of the home; son and special daughter-in-law, Greg and Monica Parker of Rubottom; five daughters and sons-in-law, Cherlynn and Greg Guy of Homer, Alaska, Susan and John Kennedy of Marietta, Laurie Powell, also of Homer, Kim and Andy Wood of Holdenville, and Cindy McGill of Idaho; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Sue Peery and Bub and Brenda Peery, all of Greenville, Kenneth and Edna Peery of Overbrook, and Jerry and Hollene Peery of Canadian, Texas; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Kaye and Denzil McGill of Greenville, Patty and Al Hendrix of Marietta and Marilyn and Mike Rice of Lone Grove; mother-in-law, Amelva Parker of Marietta; 12 grandchildren, Amber and Aaron Robertson, Travis and Autumn Reed, Gabe and Carla Parker, Royce and Crystal Gillham, Whitney Kuykendall, Daniel Parker, Mariah Louise Powell, Tara and Chuck McGill, Zack McGill, Tristan Wood, Noah McGill and Zada Wood; and seven great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Parker, Madison McGill, Gentry McGill, Ridge Parker, Rachel Parker, Lillie Reed and Jennica Gillham.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law, L.O. Parker; mother-in-law, Juanita Parker; and niece, Lisa Parker.
Pallbearers were Travis Reed, Gabe Parker, Royce Gillham, Daniel Parker, Aaron Robertson and Zack McGill. Honorary pallbearers were the REA Board of Directors and employees, Delmar and Gerri Shurbet, Joel Hicks, Amber Robertson, Mariah Powell, Whitney Kuykendall and Kerry McGill.
Memorial contributions may be made to the C/SARA Foundation in care of the funeral home.
