Peggy Jean Minton, 82, of Plano TX, passed away on February 23, 2022.

She was born on September 20, 1939, in Weleetka, OK to James Coleman and Willa Mae (Brintle) Petty. She grew up in Leon OK. From an early age, Peggy worked alongside her father in the fields of the family farm. Peggy was truly a hard worker. It was a treat for her to go to the big city of Fort Worth, TX to the cattle sales. As a teenager, she was a member of the FFA and played on the basketball team. Peggy was a 1957 graduate of Leon High School.

In the early 1960’s, Peggy moved to Anchorage, AK, where she met Joseph Minton, her husband of 57 years, and he preceded her in death on March 25, 2021. They were blessed with 3 children. They lived in many states over the years including Louisiana, Georgia, North Carolina, Alaska, and California. They retired in Fort Worth, where they lived for 22 years, before finally settling in Plano.

Peggy was a loving mother who never missed a game, dance recital, or school function. She was very involved with the PTA and enjoyed volunteering in the classroom. She also worked for many years as a teacher’s assistant at Marina Vista Elementary and Los Arboles Middle School in Marina, CA. She loved working with the students.

Peggy adored playing double 12 dominoes, RUMMIKUB, cards, working crossword puzzles, watching movies, reading, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Peggy was preceded in death by a sister, Almeta Mason.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Joseph “A.J.” Fred Minton, Jr. of Dublin, CA; daughters, Gwendolyn Sue Minton of Plano and Kimberly Michaelis and husband Joshua of Plano; daughter-in-law, Janay Minton of Dublin; sister, Sharon Rhoades and husband Gene of Burneyville, OK; grandchildren, Jacob Minton of Boise, ID, Jared Minton of Dublin, and August and Ava Michaelis of Plano; and many nieces and nephews.
