Lula Belle Lovell, 97-year-old former Love County resident, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2024, in the Wilson Nursing Center in Wilson, OK.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. in the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel, Marietta, OK.

Lula will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Leon Cemetery, Leon, OK at a later date and time.

Lula began this life on April 23, 1927, in Leon, the daughter of Earl Lee and Ora Inez (Washington) Clark. She grew up and attended schools in Leon graduating with the Class of 1945. She later married William Lewis Lovell who preceded her in death on March 15, 2001.

Lula was a long-distance telephone operator for Southwestern Bell for more than 37 years. She worked and lived in Lawton, OK, Ardmore, OK, Austin, TX, and Tulsa, OK. After retiring from Southwestern Bell, she continued working as the secretary for her husband's electrical business for many more years. Lula loved listening to music and working outdoors in her beautiful flower gardens. She was a very self-less person who loved visiting with friends and family and always made sure that they had exactly what they needed to get by.

Lula was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Eldon Clark; and sisters, Martha Alford and Gladys Suggs.

Those left to cherish her memory are a sister, Barbara Knowles of Ardmore; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend Wilma Easley.
