Mrs. Husband's family and friends knew her as Jean and to her
grandchildren she was affectionately known as Nanny. Jean was born
September 8, 1928, in Dallas, TX, the daughter of James Earl Parker and
Anna Belle Flanagan Parker. She passed away Wednesday, October 4, in
Baylor All Saints Hospital, Fort Worth, TX.
Jean graduated from High School in Richardson, TX and then was an
operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company where she met her
future husband, Estel Wesley Husband. The couple married in Dallas on
June 18, 1948. Later she completed cosmetology school and worked as a
hair stylist for 20 years. She then changed careers and worked for the
Grand Prairie, TX Independent School District in food services retiring
in 1985 as the Grand Prairie High School cafeteria manager. Estel and
Jean moved from Grand Prairie to the Falconhead community near
Burneyville, OK to make their home for 13 years, returning to Texas in
2010. Jean enjoyed trips with friends and relatives, reading and
shopping. She was a natural when it came to entertaining and cooking
when family and friends gathered. Her greatest delight was to care and
share fun times with her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her
smile, humor, wit and unconditional love she shared with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Estel, on June
11, 2011; and a brother, James Earl Parker, Jr.
