An Irving, Texas resident died at the scene of an automobile crash in Love County last week.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Jody Cornelison reported that Albert Lee Hooker, 69, suffered from massive injuries sustained in the single-vehicle crash.
The official accident report stated that at 1:21 p.m., Thursday, August 4, Hooker was driving his 2005 Nissan eastbound approximately nine miles west of Marietta on Highway 32 when the vehicle ran off the roadway to the right and struck a speed limit sign.
The vehicle continued to travel
approximately 70 feet before striking an embankment.
Hooker was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to the
Medical Examiner’s office in Oklahoma City.
No seat belts were in use at the time of the crash.
Trooper Cornelison credited Trooper David Duggan, Love
County EMS, the Marietta Volunteer Fire Department, Leon
Community Volunteer Fire Department and the Love County
Sheriff’s Department for their assistance at the scene.

Born October 15, 1941, at Leon, the son of Clyde and Aline Hooker, he died Thursday, August 4, 2011, near Burneyville.
Albert served in the United States Navy, later became a truck driver and then a chief engineer in Texas. When the time came, he retired, returned to Leon and spent his days working on the farm.
Preceding him in death were his parents. He is survived by his children, Lisa Gibson and husband, David of Irving, Texas, Shawna Garcia and husband, Rudolph of Dallas and James Hooker and wife, Pamela of Mesquite, Texas; siblings, Shirley Ann Vickery and husband, Arlen of Hobart, David Hooker and wife, Linda of Norman, Billy Wayne Hooker of Leon, Linda Mitchell and husband, Ron of Mustang, and Jacque Terrill and husband, Tim of Phoenix, Arizona; five grandchildren, Tabitha Dickenson, Brian Gibson, Nathan Hooker, Gabriela Garcia and Brandon Hooker; and four great-grandchildren, Caleb, Dharma, Brooklynn and Jackson.
