Shirley Randall Hicks was born on August 28, 1935, in Thackerville, OK to Clyde, Sr. and Willie Mae (Bond) McGill. She passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023, at the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, at the age of 88.

On November 2, 1957, Shirley married the love of her life, Duane Leland Hicks in Marietta and they made their home in Fort Worth, TX. In 1963, they relocated to Orange, CA for 10 years. In 1973, they decided to finish raising their children a little closer to home, so Duane took a job that led them to move to Keller, TX, until they decided to move back home to Love County in 1997. Shirley had retired as a directory assistance operator with Southwestern Bell and she and Duane were members of the Marietta Church of Christ. Shirley loved gardening, sewing, cooking, traveling, and would still play basketball with her grandkids well into her 80s.

Those left to carry on Shirley’s legacy include her children, Doug Hicks and wife Jerry Lynn of Hurst, TX, Gina Taft and husband Richard of Naples, FL, and Jerri Stone and husband Ted of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Alex Taft, Lauren Taft, Kevin Hicks, Kyle Hicks, Lindell Stone, Parker Stone and Preston Stone; and great-granddaughter, Allison Grace Stone; brothers, Vance McGill and wife Callie of Thackerville; Denzil McGill and wife Kaye of Greenville, OK, and Jerry McGill of Thackerville; and sisters, Patricia Evans of Burneyville, OK and Denise McMillin of Greenville, OK.

She was welcomed to heaven by her parents, Clyde, Sr. and Willie Mae McGill; her husband Duane; and a brother, Clyde McGill, Jr.

Services for Shirley will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at the Marietta Church of Christ with Mr. Allen Woody officiating. Interment will follow at the Leon Cemetery in Leon, OK. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 20TH, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home in Marietta.

Serving as casket bearers will be Alex Taft, Lauren Taft, Kevin Hicks, Kyle Hicks, Lindell Stone, Parker Stone, and Preston Stone.
