Services for Mary Caroline Douglass, 74, of Miami, were held at 2 p.m., Friday, August 24, at the Leon Baptist Church, Leon, with the Rev. Dennis Lopez officiating.

Interment was in the Leon Cemetery, Leon.

Born July 18, 1933, in Durant, the daughter of Dr. Charles E. Douglass and Clarice Parker Douglass, she died Tuesday, August 21, 2007, in Integris Baptist Regional Medical Center, Miami. Miss Douglass had been a resident of Georgetown, Texas, before just recently moving to Miami. A graduate of Southeastern Oklahoma State University, she was a retired Lieutenant Colonel, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 33 years, including tours of duty in Vietnam and Korea. She had also been employed as a writer/editor for the Department of Defense for 20 years. Miss Douglass was well traveled due to her military service. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Mildred Douglass of Miami; an uncle, L.O. Parker of Leon; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two half brothers and a half sister.

Pallbearers were Steve Hicks, Jim Veith, Henry Burton, Greg Parker, Mike Parker and Jim Householder. Online guest book: wattsfuneralhome.com
