Services for Hazel A. Culwell Young, 86, of Marietta were Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the Eastside Baptist Church.  Officiating was Rev. David Colaw.

Mrs. Young was born January 21, 1913, at Spiro, the daughter of Jesse L. and Mamie Leona Davis Matthews, and died May 19, 1999, in Mercy Health Love County, Marietta. A resident of Love County most of her life, Mrs. Young was a homemaker and participated in the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.  She was also a member of the Eastside Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Don Culwell and Edard Culwell of Marietta, and Gus Culwell of Schertz, Texas; a daughter, Barbara Elliott of Marietta; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her first husband, James A. Culwell on January 4, 1951; her second husband, Harold Young in 1968; a son, James A. "Butch" Culwell, Jr. on November 12, 1990; a daughter, Cathy Lee Culwell in 1963; a brother, Clarence Earl Matthews in 1967; and a grandson, Randy Culwell on January 12, 1982.

Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery with Charles Treadwell, James A. Culwell III, Greg Culwell, B.J. Culwell, Darryl Hickman and Scotty McBride serving as pallbearers.  Services were directed by Kennedy Funeral Home.
