Mrs. Whittington was born December 27, 1910, at Marietta and died April
27, 1999 in Marietta. She was the daughter of George and Mattie
Shoemaker Sifford.
Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law, Robert & Wilma
Whittington and Vernon & Flora Mae Whittington of Denison, TX; James &
Verda Whittington of Gainesville, TX; and Leon & Barbara Whittington and
David & Linda Whittington of Thackerville; a daughter and son-in-law,
Mary & Ray Buckaloo of Marietta; 28 grandchildren, 23
great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Whittington was preceded in death by her husband on May 21, 1991; a
son, Charles Whittington in 1997; two daughters, Louise Woodring in 1995
and Willie Mae Birkhead in 1993; two brothers, a sister, and a
granddaughter, Stacy Davis in 1995.
Services will be directed by Kennedy Funeral Home with interment in Lakeview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Charlie Whittington, Dennis Birkhead, Dana Whittington, Jerry Whittington, Bryan Whittington, Jimmy Whittington, Core Whittington and David Whittington.
