Jack Clinton Weldon May 3, 1925 - Mar 30, 2004
Posted by Martha Reddout
Services for Jack C. Weldon, 78, of Ardmore, were held at 4 p.m.,
Friday, April 2, at the First Christian Church, Marietta, with the Rev.
Craig Rutherford officiating and Ted Gilbert reading the eulogy.
Mr. Weldon was born May 3, 1925, in Ardmore, the son of Seaborn Dars and
Mattie Louise Weichering Weldon. He died Tuesday, March 30, 2004, in
Mercy Memorial Health Center, Ardmore.
A veteran, Mr. Weldon served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He
and Cynthia Sanders were married April 30, 1947, in Gainesville, Texas.
A successful businessman, Mr. Weldon owned several businesses in
Oklahoma City before retiring in 1975. The couple returned to Ardmore to
spend time with their granddaughter, Aimee. The joy of his life was
taking care of Aimee, and then when Ryan and Jeffrey came along, he and
their father, Ted, went on many special "five-day" trips. Swimming at
GP's pool became so natural that now they are both Navy divers.
Six years later, a blonde named Kellie moved into his life. Two
granddaughters and two grandsons were the perfect combination for a
perfect grandpa. Many businesses in Ardmore recognized Mr. Weldon and
his beloved dog, Dog, who was his loyal and beloved companion. They
visited McDonald's each morning. Dog went to Heaven the year GP had his
stroke. They are now reunited on the Rainbow Bridge. Mr. Weldon was
lucky to have a very important person come in his life almost three
years ago. Ysabel Danile Gilbert loved her "Pampaw Jack."
Mr. Weldon was a member of the First Christian Church of Marietta, where
he served as an elder.
Survivors include his wife Cynthia Weldon of the home; three daughters,
Emmy Ellis of Ardmore, Liz Weldon of Ardmore and Lynn Weldon of Oklahoma
City; a brother, Jess Weldon of Arlington, Texas; a sister, Nettie
Coleman of Ardmore; two granddaughters, Aimee Ellis of Phoenix, and
Kelli Beard of Oklahoma City; two grandsons and granddaughters-in-law,
Ryan and Jodi Gilbert of San Diego, and Jeffrey and Danile Gilbert of
Kailua, Hawaii; a great-granddaughter, Ysabel Gilbert; and several
nieces and nephews.
Mr. Weldon was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters,
Bernice Ford, Elizabeth Callender and Jean Weldon.
Pallbearers were Ryan Owens, Curtis Cochran, Tim Franklin, J.W. Dighton,
David Pate and Chris Davenport.
Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, under the direction of
Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta
