HAZEL POOL SIMMONS

Services for Hazel Pool Simmons, 96, of Reno, Nevada, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 2, in the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Glen Pool officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta. Viewing will be available at the funeral home from noon to 5 p.m., Thursday, July 1.
Born December 11, 1913 at Oswalt, the daughter of Jay C. And Maude Knight Pool, she died Friday, June 25, 2010 at her residence in Reno with her family by her side.
Mrs. Simmons moved to Reno in 2004 to be with her daughter, Marjorie Jones. She had previously lived in Sacramento, California and Ardmore. Mrs. Simmons attended Bowles Grade School and graduated from Meadowbrook High School in 1932. She then attended the Ardmore Business College and worked as a secretary. She and W.E. “Bill” Simmons were married on October 17, 1948 in Ardmore, and he preceded her in death on December 21, 1990.
Hazel will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren as Meemo Oklahoma. She was the light of her daughter’s life and her family is so grateful for the many years of love, kindness and generosity that Meemo shared with all.
Survivors include her daughter, Marjorie M. Jones and son-in-law, James Jones of Reno; a brother, Ben Pool of Del City; three grandchildren, Linda Neil of Lake Tahoe, Nevada, Steve Blalock of Santa Clarita, California and Tracy Byer of Torrance, California; as well as 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and a nephew.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers and two sisters.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Hospice, Reno, Nevada, in care of the funeral home.
