ervices were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 25, in the Chapel of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta, with Reverend Ron Fannin officiating.
Interment followed in Lakeview
Cemetery, Marietta.
Born in Enville on August 8, 1939, Suzanne was the daughter of the late
Charles Edward and Irene Vivian Porter Chasteen. She was a graduate of
Marietta High School. After attending the University of Oklahoma,
Suzanne received an undergraduate degree from East Central University
and taught school in Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Kentucky. She also served
as a church pianist in a number of churches in those states alongside
her late husband, Donald W. Martin, who was a longtime Minister of
Music. In recent years, she has been a member of First Baptist Church of
Shelby where she served as a Sunday School teacher.
Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Don, on Jun 8,
2015.
Survivors include her four children, Mary Roby and husband Andrew of
Shelby, and Malesa Mitchell, Mark Martin, and Mike Martin and wife
Becky, all of Pauls Valley; five grandchildren, Rachel Roby Nall and
husband Daniel of Raleigh, North Carolina, Thomy Martin and Micah Martin
Prince of Pauls Valley, David Roby and fiancée Margaret Schultz of
Birmingham Alabama, and Paul Mitchell of Pauls Valley; and three
great-grandchildren, Karsen Prince and Bennett Prince of Pauls Valley
and Karis Nall of Raleigh.
Serving as pallbearers were Daniel Nall, David Roby, Gary Jarman,
Branden Prince, Steve Roby, and Thomy Martin.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 120 North Lafayette
Street, Shelby, North Carolina 28150.
