David Lee Jacobs, 80, of Marietta, OK passed away on Saturday,
January 29, 2022 at Mercy Hospital in Ardmore, OK. He was born
February 9, 1941 in Marietta, the son of Wayne and Veda Mae (Brown)
Jacobs.
David was a lifelong area resident. He married the love of his life,
Anna Sue Dvorak on June 27, 1961 in Poteau, OK. She preceded him in
death on March 17, 2018. In the 60’s, he and Anna owned the Sinclair
Station and the Phillips 66 Station in Marietta. After they sold
their stations, David ran the local Stuckey’s. He decided he wanted
to try his hand in the restaurant business and opened the Bar-B-Q
Hut. He owned and operated it for several years with the support and
love of his wife. After his business experience with the restaurant,
David ventured into the car industry opening Jacobs Used Cars. He
owned and operated it until the mid 90’s. After retiring from the
used car business, he later went to work for the City of Marietta as
the dog catcher and during this time, he also helped at the funeral
home. Most recently, he was known around town as the “watermelon
man”. David had many business ventures and was always on the go.
When he wasn’t working, you could find him fishing. David loved
spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandsons
and great-grandsons.
Survivors include his sons, David Wayne Jacobs and wife Mary and
Allen Lee Jacobs all of Marietta; daughter, Tammy Sue Jacobs of
Marietta; sister, Karen Deaver of Ardmore; grandchildren, Jason
Jacobs and wife Tracey of Pottsboro, TX, Kyler Jacobs and wife
Priscilla of Lebanon, OK, and Stuart Jacobs of Marietta; and
great-grandchildren, Andrew and Parker Jacobs.
David was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Jacobs; parents, Wayne
and Veda Jacobs; and a brother, Kenneth Jacobs.
Graveside services for David will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday,
February 2, 2022 at the Lakeview Cemetery with Pastor Brett Alberda
officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday at Flanagan-Watts Funeral
Home & Cremation Services of Marietta from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Honorary bearers are Jason Jacobs, Kyler Jacobs, Stuart Jacobs,
Andrew Jacobs and Parker Jacobs.
