Services for Alyne Thompson Griffin, 90, of Marietta were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 2 in the Chapel of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta with Rev. Tommy Higle officiating.

Interment followed in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta.

Born August 16, 1922 in Marietta, the daughter of Victor Herbert, Sr. and Dewey Richey Thompson, she died Friday, December 28, 2012 in a healthcare facility in Ardmore. A resident of Love County most of her life, Mrs. Griffin was a homemaker and had also been employed at Marietta Sportswear.  She and Vernon L. Griffin were married in Cooke County, Texas on October 1, 1945, and he preceded her in death on September 10, 2007.  Mrs. Griffin was an active member of Marietta’s First Baptist Church and was always available to assist with church dinners. Alyne also enjoyed crafts.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Monroe Thompson; and a grandson, Richey Robbins.

Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, Tommy Griffin and Roger and Becki Griffin, all of Ardmore; a daughter, Janie Caldwell of Marietta; a brother and sister-in-law, Victor and Barbara Thompson of Marietta; four grandchildren, Greg Griffin, Whitney Casey, Bucky Caldwell and Blaine Caldwell; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers were grandsons, Bucky Caldwell, Blaine Caldwell, Greg Griffin and Brian Casey. Honorary bearers were David Kerr and Jerry Kerr.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Marietta’s First Baptist Church.
