Services for Archelowe Terrill, 81, of the Jimtown community were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 6 in Freeman Auditorium of Turner Schools with Rev. Dennis Wiles officiating.

Interment followed in the Jimtown Cemetery.

Born December 4, 1929 at Jimtown, the son of Emery and Susan Christine Hartless Terrill, he died Sunday, July 3, 2011 at his residence.

A resident of Love County all of his life, Mr. Terrill attended Jimtown Grade School and graduated from Burneyville High School in 1946. He served with the United States Army, 1951-1953, in Japan during the Korean Conflict and was awarded the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. Mr. Terrill and Lynnita Jo Hull were married in Marietta on April 17, 1954. He was a farmer and very active in the community. Mr. Terrill served 16 years on the Turner School Board and continued as a strong supporter of Turner sports and FFA. In addition, he served on the ASCS Board and Farm Bureau Board as well as coaching Little League teams for many years. Mr. Terrill was also a member of the Cattleman’s Association and the Burch Bros. Post of the American Legion. He enjoyed playing dominoes and pitch, fishing in the river and lake, and watching his grandchildren participate in sports. Mr. Terrill was of the Baptist faith.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Elwood Terrill and Allen Lee Terrill; and a brother-in-law, James D. Hicks.

He is survived by his wife, Lynnita Terrill of the home; four sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Jacque Terrill of Phoenix, Rick and Melissa Terrill of McKinney, Texas, Tracy and Joni Terrill of Austin, Texas and Reagan and DeAnne Terrill of Stafford, Virginia; a sister, Ellie Mae Hicks of Dallas; a sister-in-law, Blanquita Dye of Oklahoma City; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers were his grandsons, Douglas Terrill, Chris Terrill, Tyler Terrill, Samuel Terrill, Taylor Terrill, Joey Terrill and Caleb Terrill. Honorary bearers were Frankie Hall, Johnny Hall, Brian Ladner, Sonny Hartman, Greg Hallum, Joel Hicks and Billie John Gipson.
