Jimmy Andrew Smith, 74-year-old
Morris, OK resident, passed away peacefully at his home,
Wednesday, February 15, 2023.
A graveside funeral service will
be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 21, 2023, in the Jimtown
Cemetery in Jimtown, OK with Pastor Johnny Young officiating.
Services have been entrusted to the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home
of Marietta, OK.
Jimmy began this life on November
11, 1948 in Leon, OK the son of Jeff and Renna (Caldwell) Smith.
He served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam
and was honorably discharged on May 6, 1970.
Jimmy was a musician at heart. He
loved playing bluegrass and country music on his guitar and
could sing just as good as he could play. He loved attending
bluegrass festivals and music events all over the state and all
over the country. In June of 1992, Jimmy married Cathryn June
Pickering in Napa Valley, CA and the two later settled in the
Chowchilla, CA area where Jimmy ran his own oil field pipe
supply company. Later in life, they settled in the Morris, OK
area where Jimmy continued singing and playing. As long as he
was doing that, he was happy. But, not even his music brought
him as much joy as spending time with his grandchildren and
great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly. He especially loved
having his granddaughter Hayley Surabian as his caregiver.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his
parents, Jeff and Renna Smith; sisters, Gladys Wright and Wilma
Jean Drake; niece, Kay Drake; and nephews, Kelly Wright and
Brent Wright.
Those left to cherish his memory
are his wife Cathy; two daughters, Jeanie Gillis of Fresno, CA
and Jamie Salinas and husband Benny of Morris; two sons, Jason
Surabian of Fresno and Kevin Garcia of Fresno; one sister, Norma
Kemmer of Fresno; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and
numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Casket bearers are Isaiah Salinas,
Kobe Salinas, Robert Gates, Kenny Wright, Frankie Wright, and
Doug Wright. Honorary bearer is Tim Holland.
