Services for Maxine Hicks Reed, 89, of Marietta were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 2 in the Chapel of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home with Dewayne Self and Angela Harrison officiating.

Interment followed in the Jimtown Cemetery.
 
Born October 26, 1926, at Jimtown, the daughter of the late Earl Robert and Jesse Lee Hallum Hicks, she died Wednesday, June 29, 2016, in Lake Country Nursing Center, Marietta.
 
The oldest of six children, Maxine was raised on a farm in Jimtown where she helped with the chores. She attended school in Jimtown and was a graduate of Leon High School. On October 30, 1948, she married the late James Auston Reed in Gainesville, Texas. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1998. The couple made their home in Marietta where they raised their two children, Steve and Monica. 
 
Owners of the Texaco Service and Repair Station located on the southeast corner of Highway 32 and I-35, when the couple sold the station Auston became a long-haul truck driver. Maxine soon followed him in that profession, driving for almost 10 years. She was of the Pentecostal faith. Maxine loved traveling, loved watching her grandchildren in their sporting events, and from her youth until she passed away, enjoyed being with her cousins, as well as spending time with her great-granddaughter, Paisley Kaye.
 
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Chad Lewis Reed and Blair Reed; a great-grandchild, Auston Gage Reed; her sister, Peggy McEntire; and brothers, Earl Ray Hicks, Glyn Edward Hicks, Burney Hicks, and Gary Keith Hicks.
 
Survivors include a daughter, Monica Reed of Ardmore; a son, Steve Reed and his wife Cindy of Lone Grove; a granddaughter, Paige Newell and her husband, Randall, and their daughter Paisley of Lone Grove; a grandson, Chase Reed of Lone Grove; three sisters-in-law, Wanda Hicks-Miller of Ponca City, Virginia Hicks of Marietta, and Linda Hicks of Lone Grove; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and her beloved cat, Troubles.
 
Serving as pallbearers were nephews, Shane Hicks, Gaither Hicks, Tony Hicks, Robin Hicks, Lyndal Hicks, and Randy Hicks.
